What Should You Not Do Before A Massage?

Back Massage London wants you to enjoy your massage and get what you’re looking for from it. One of the best things about getting a massage from Back Massage London is that you don’t have to do anything but relax and let go. Before you reach nirvana, there are a few things you should avoid so you can get the most out of massage therapy (think stress relief, lymphatic detoxification, less inflammation, improved breathing, etc.). Massage therapists were asked what the top six things that shouldn’t be done are. The results might shock you.

Don’t get too much sun:

When you get a sunburn, your skin gets very red and irritated over large areas of your body, like your back and shoulders. If your skin is still burning, it’s not a good idea to get a massage because the blood flow will be slowed down and we’ll have to work through the skin to get to the muscles. If you have a sunburn, it’s best to move your massage appointment.

Avoid things that “caffeinate”:

If you drink coffee or other drinks with caffeine before your massage, you might not be able to fully relax. Instead of sitting on a tropical beach and watching the waves, you’ll probably be making lists and thinking about work. You’ll be tense, and your body will fight the therapy. Relax and drink enough water before you get there.

Try not to eat a big meal:

Most of the time, we use Ashi-Thai acupressure as part of our Thai-style therapy. Large meals shouldn’t be eaten while sitting down because they can make you feel dizzy. It’s fine to eat a normal dinner before going in.

Don’t run a marathon, though:

We work with a lot of athletes, and many of them come to see us before and after big sports events. Some sports competitions and extreme activities, like marathons and triathlons, are especially hard on the body. Before our Back Massage London therapists work on your muscles, give yourself one or two days of complete rest.

Use no lotion or oil:

Before getting a massage, it is smart, polite, and strongly suggested that you take a shower. But you shouldn’t put any oil or lotion on your skin. During the massage, you will be covered in oil or lotion, which may or may not mix well with the skin moisturizer you choose.

There should be no use of medicines, patches, or tapes that are put on the skin:

During a massage, any lotions or creams you have put on your skin may spread all over it. Remember to use any cooling gels if you need to after your session. Because of performance tapes and patches, your massage therapist may not pay enough attention to the part of your body that needs it the most.

Avoid taking painkillers that you have to get from a doctor:

If you are in so much pain that you need medicine, the best thing to do is to move your massage appointment. Painkillers, mood stabilizers, and muscle relaxants can change how you feel pain and how well you can talk to your massage therapist. Since massage causes pressure and more blood flow, any medicine that thins the blood should be avoided.

Drink:

You can drink water, but you shouldn’t drink alcohol. The bad effects of alcohol may be worsened when you get a massage because your body spreads toxins all over your body when you get a massage. Before getting a massage, it’s better to be well-hydrated than to be drunk.

Sunbathe:

Experts say that you should stay out of the sun on the day of your massage to avoid getting sunburned. This may be hard to do if you are on vacation. “Sunburns can be very painful when touched. The last thing you want is for someone to rub your burned skin.

Shower:

Even though you want to help, you shouldn’t take a hot shower before getting a massage. Give yourself a hot rinse before your massage to improve blood flow and make it more likely that you will sweat during the session. Taking a warm shower a few hours before your meeting is not only fine, but it is also highly recommended.
